Azul Valverde Cladding Project – Global Switch London
Hello! This is part of a series of articles where we present all our readers and followers some of the most interesting projects that we have supplied natural stone to. We name these as reference projects mainly because of their dimension, impact, recognition or any other factor that makes the project outstanding. In short, these are our most relevant projects done so far. Here, we introduce you to the cladding project we have supplied for the Global Switch building located in London – United Kingdom.
The project is called Global Switch, which is a datacenter / IT company with offices in several parts of the world. This building was built from scratch and required grey limestone for its exterior cladding.
The project involved the supply of 2.000m2 of grey limestone cut-to-size for the exterior cladding. As you can see on the picture, the limestone was suppose to blend with the glass and the remaining elements of the cladding, in order to give it a sober look, no with much contrast. The final result was a success.
The limestone used was Azul Valverde with 40mm thickness and flamed finishing. And the client had a specific requirement for the overall layout to present some differences in terms of tones. The result was an excellent cladding work where every cut-to-size piece seems slightly different from one another.
All the flamed finishing process was hand-made, while the selection of the cut-to-size had to be very criterious in order to fulfill the clients demands in terms on non-uniformity.
As said, the total project involved the supply of 2.000m2 of cladding. The Global Switch building is today one of our main reference cladding projects done in Azul Valverde limestone. We often use it as case study to explain many clients to use of non-uniform natural stone, which can have amazing results as is the case with this project.
